Premier League title chasers Liverpool will have to contend with two other English sides in their bid to sign young Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes.
The Reds are one of three Premier League sides eyeing a move for the Portuguese international midfielder ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Gedson Fernandes was promoted to a first team player at Portuguese Super League leaders Benfica at the start of this season and he has caught the eye of big English sides with his impressive displays this season.
According to the report from the stables of the Daily Mirror, North London giants Tottenham Hotspur have joined both Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign him.
It was further revealed that the midfielder is rated at £35m at the moment for the clubs interested in his signature.
Liverpool are expected to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final at the start of next month but that fight could extend to off-the-pitch matters with the scramble for Gedson Fernandes’ services.
The Reds have a long and fighting history with Manchester United.
Gedson Fernandes has had a very good season which could end in a winner’s medal for him at the end of the league season with Benfica still occupying top spot on the Portuguese top flight table.
