Permanent Scar: Barcelona Boss Still Haunted By Liverpool Collapse

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has admitted that he’s struggling to get the humiliating Liverpool defeat out of his system ahead of the Spanish La Liga clash with Getafe on Sunday evening.

Valverde and his Barcelona players were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Premier League giants Liverpool in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal tie.

The second leg thrashing rendered the 3-0 lead from the first leg useless as Barcelona crashed out of the competition via a 4-3 aggregate defeat.

Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum were the heroes for Liverpool after they both scored two goals each to lead the Reds to victory.

Valverde spoke extensively about that defeat during his pre-match press conference ahead of the league game with Champions League chasers Getafe at home.

According to him, it would be difficult for him to motivate his players for the Getafe game after the disappointments of the Champions League clash at Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Barcelona were chasing a treble before the Liverpool game but the Catalan giants can still win a domestic double after their Champions League exit.

Barcelona have already won the Spanish La Liga this season and they could add the Copa Del Rey when they face Valencia in the final on May 25.
