Liverpool safe hand Simon Mignolet has said that he plans to decide on his future at the club after the FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Dropped down pecking order
The Belgium international goalkeeper is no longer the first choice goalkeeper and admits he faces a tough battle to earn his position back in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Simon Mignolet has often suffered inconsistency for much of his spell at Anfield, and few fans would argue with the manager’s decision to place his trust in first-choice goalie Karius instead after switching between the two players earlier in the campaign and at times last year.
Belgian keen to leave
The Belgian has certainly used up his opportunities now and looks a likely candidate to leave this summer transfer window, though the player insists he has not decided yet.
Mignolet, 29, admits he was downhearted to lose his first position and has told Jurgen Klopp he needs regular playing time, so it looks like he’s hinting strongly that his playing future lies away from the side.
Having said that, the Belgium international also says he is aware things can change really quickly due to injury woes or suspensions, which will give Red fans frightening images of the player being drafted in to play Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final.
