Joachim Andersen

Arsenal’s interest in Sampdoria central defender Joachim Andersen has now hit the dead rock after he is reported to have put pen to paper for a fresh contract with the club.

The Italian side are believed to have handed a new and improved contract to the player after hearing of the interest from the North London side so as to help the player concentrate.

However, the Denmark international has officially penned a new deal with Sampdoria that will have him remain at the club until 2022.

It was earlier suggested that Sampdoria will not let go of Andersen easily because of his importance to the team. He has had an impressive season so far which has caught the attention of European clubs.

Arsenal have monitored the player and were in pole position to have his signature to bolster their defence until this development which means the Gunners will have to look other direction if they must do business in the winter transfer window.

Sampdoria hints at being lucky to have signed Andersen from Erdivise club Twente for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be around £2 million but there is no doubt that the value of the player has increased with no club expected to have him for as less as £25 million.
