Luka Jovic

Champions League holders Real Madrid are favourites to sign highly rated Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic ahead of the next transfer window in the summer.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, the 13-time European champions became the front-runner in the race to sign Bosnian-born Serbian striker Luka Jovic.

It was revealed that the Los Merengues have made a €45m bid for the player to counter recent reports that arch rivals Barcelona have agreed on a transfer for him.

Luka Jovic had previously been touted as a potential striker signing at Liverpool with Daniel Sturridge on the cusp of leaving the club.

Liverpool see the 21-year-old as a possible replacement for England international Sturridge whose contract expires this summer.

Sturridge has already been attracting the interest of Tottenham Hotspur and New York City in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

Luka Jovic has an eye for goal and he has demonstrated this in the colours of Eintracht Frankfurt.

He has scored 14 goals in 15 German Bundesliga games this term in addition to a total of 19 goals in all competitions.

He’s on loan at Frankfurt who are desperate to make his loan transfer a permanent one.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool will do battle to secure the player’s signature but reigning European champions remain favourites for Luka Jovic.
