Done deal : Chelsea lose Paredes to PSG

Leandro Paredes

Chelsea have failed in their desire to capture Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes as the Argentine completes his move to PSG on Tuesday.

The Blues have been in intense competition with the Parc des Princes outfits for the midfielder since last month and they reportedly made a quick move so as to beat their rivals.

However, Sarri’s efforts seemed insufficient to beat the Ligue 1 Champions to Paredes signature because Thomas Tuchel has reportedly captured the Argentine star.

While speaking to newsmen after penning a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 giants, Paredes said he is very happy to be joining PSG because that has been his dream while growing up in the South American country.

“I’m very proud to be joining Paris Saint-Germain. I also look forward to the passionate atmosphere of the Parc des Princes, as I grew up with football fever in Argentina,” he said

He is counting on the experience he’s had while playing for St Petersburg to help him settle down quickly at the Parc des Princes in order to give his best to the team.

This will surely come as sad news for Chelsea fans who had huge hope of beating PSG to the player’s signature.

According to L’Equipe, the deal is believed to have cost the free-spending PSG a sum of £35m.

What next for Sarri in his search for Fabregas’ replacement? Only time will give the best answer to the question. But if you ask me, i think the Italian will now intensify his race to sign Brazilian star Eder Militao
