Chelsea are set to offer Bayern Leverkusen £15 million for Hakan Calhanoglu, according to reports.
The Blues are desperate to add numbers to their current squad despite being at the top of the Premier League and as marked Calhanoglu as one of their targets.
Reports in Turkish outlet Fanatik have it that a £15 million bid is being prepared for the 22-year-old midfielder after watching him on several occasions.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is believed to have indicated his intentions to move quickly for Calhanoglu’s signature due to fierce competition from Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Everton.
The Turkish midfielder is known for versatility in the midfield coupled with ability to score from dead ball situation.
Calhanoglu arrived Leverkusen from Hamburg in 2014 for a fee believed to be around £12.5m and has impressed for the Bundesliga side, scoring 15 goals in 74 appearances so far.
In related news, Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has warned Chelsea target, Adama Traore to concentrate on the game rather than a move to the Stamford Bridge.
“If a team like Chelsea are following Adama it’s because his progress has been brilliant in six months and he’s doing well, but he’s young and the main thing he has to do is to keep going as football can change a lot,” Karanka said.
