According to Italian media report, Premier League giants Chelsea have joined Serie A giants Inter Milan in the transfer race to land Roma star Alessandro Florenzi this summer transfer window.
Chelsea keen on midfield reinforcement
Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by The Sun, is claiming that Chelsea have entered the transfer race to complete the signing of the 27-year-old midfielder this summer transfer window.
The same article states that the player is likely to be in the lookout this summer due to a breakdown in talks about a fresh deal with Serie A giants AS Roma.
Midfielder reportedly want out
Florenzi is allegedly said to be asking for £3.5m-yearly in wages before elongating his contract past 2019.
The report, though, says the Italian side have no plan of paying the midfielder that much and the club could now look to offload him this summer transfer window rather than risk losing him the player on a free next term.
The Blues are thought to be in the transfer market for a couple of major signings this summer window despite the severe uncertainty about Antonio Conte’s situation at the West London club.
Chelsea ended the season in the fifth position on the English Premier League log and won the Emirates FA Cup last term in what was the Italian’s second season in charge at the Pensioners’ club.
