Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is hopeful that the club will be able to give him at least one or two new signings despite the transfer ban hanging over the head of the West Londoners.
Ahead of his team’s Europa League semifinal second leg meeting with German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, Sarri told reporters that Chelsea still have a long way to go to bridge the gap on both Liverpool and Manchester City who have shown that they are a level above the rest of the other clubs in the Premier League.
According to him via Goal, Chelsea need one or two new players to bridge the gap on the top two.
Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic will join Chelsea in the summer having already signed for the club during the winter transfer window and he’s expected to be the sole signing for Chelsea if the transfer ban stands.
Chelsea were handed a two-window transfer ban relating to misdemeanors on their part over the signing of foreign players under the age of 18.
The Blues were banned by world’s football governing body FIFA before their appeal against the verdict was thrown out on Wednesday.
Chelsea have already confirmed that they will seek redress over the ban verdict in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
