According to media reports in France, Chelsea are set to open discussions with Ligue 1 side Nice about the likelihood of signing Jean-Michael Seri this summer transfer window.
Chelsea named among suitors
French publication Le10Sport, as cited by Metro, is claiming that Chelsea have been mentioned as one of the main clubs in a group of suitors keeping close tabs on the 26-year-old this summer.
The same article states that the FA Cup winners are now hoping to beat London rivals Arsenal to the signing of the midfielder this summer transfer window, with new manager Unai Emery believed to be a fan of the Nice star.
It is suggested that Chelsea are poised to start talks about signing the midfielder and are convinced that the West London club will be able to seal a deal to lure him to Chelsea early in the summer window.
Seri linked with move to England
The Ivorian has long been connected with a transfer to the English Premier League and he has been tipped as a possible transfer target for FA Cup finalists Manchester United.
The same reports suggest that he came close to signing for Barcelona last summer window but the proposed transfer deal broke down at the last hour.
The Blues are likely to be in the market for a couple of recruits this summer transfer window as they look to assemble a squad capable of winning the English Premier League title next term.
