Virgil van Dijk

Former Celtic coach, Ronny Deila in a new statement has revealed what Liverpool center back and Holland international did that made the Reds signed him.

According to Ronny Deila, the Holland captain improved on his fitness level, which was why he made it into the group of world-class defenders.

Coach Deila managed Van Dijk when the duo were at Celtic and he disclosed that during the defender’s stay at the club, he believed he (Van Dijk) lacked the fitness.

Ronny Deila stressed that Van Dijk had unbelievable skills and potential to be better ”but he needed to train every day to improve, take care of himself better and I think he progressed a lot in that year to be more conscious about how he lives his life after football and also how he trains.”

Virgil Van Dijk left Celtic and signed for Southampton where he was spotted by Liverpool scouts as the player that can help the Reds solve the problem at the defensive line.

To state the fact, Virgil Van Dijk has been a key player since his arrival at Anfield and at the moment Liverpool have one of the strongest defense in Europe all thanks to the Netherlands captain.
