Arsenal boss Unai Emery has defended goalkeeper Petr Cech’s performance in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup against Blackpool.
The Gunners recorded their 13th unbeaten run as they defeated their opponent 2-1 but Cech’s performance which was shaky became a worry for fans and it was obvious with their reactions each time the ball gets to the Gunners 18 box.
The Spanish boss said it normal for the fans to be afraid of such situations because the defenders have no choice to play with the goalkeeper each time there is a pressure from the opponent.
Emery is confident of the former Chelsea goalkeeper, noting that there is nothing to worry about because he has got the experience to handle such situations.
Meanwhile, the Arsenal boss urged the fans to learn to give confidence to players and not show their panic openly as it might have its way on the players.
Cech has just returned from a hamstring injury, missing a number of games and was replaced by Bernd Leno who provided a good cover for the 36-year-old.
Arsenal will look to return for the big action in the Premier League against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium and the manager has the call to make on who takes the game between the two goalkeepers.
