According to reports, Tottenham Hotspurs are expected to beat other suitors to the signature of Schalke’s highly-rated star Max Meyer.
Meyer, 21, has a year left on his current contract and has shown no intention to extend his deal, Schalke 04 have reportedly told suitors they want £17million for his service.
Clubs like Spurs, Liverpool and Hoffenheim, are all believed to be interested, but reports in German Press indicate it is Mauricio Pochettino who will likely win the race for the service of the attacking midfielder.
Meyer has scored 20 goals in 163 matches for his club but is believed to be keen on playing in the Prestigious UEFA Champions League again, with Schalke 04 enduring a disappointing season and only finishing 10th in the German Bundesliga last term.
The attacker has played four times by Germany National men football team and represented his country at the recently concluded European Under-21 Championships in Poland, which his country won, beating Spain 1-0 in the final.
News of Spurs’ interest has also been reported by the Daily Mirror, though they quoted bookmakers’ odds inciting the German as Spurs-bound.
The Premier League side is one of just two English teams yet to sign a player this summer transfer window.
