Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has backed 4-time English Premier League (EPL) Chelsea over Arsene Wenger’s side despite the Gunners’ dominant 5-1 win over West Ham United in the London Derby at the Olympic Stadium.
Wright shared his opinion on BT Sport as reported by popular news outlet Goal. When asked about Arsenal’s chances of winning the league title, he said: No. I don’t think so especially after how Chelsea played. They seem to have the momentum at the moment.”
“I haven’t seen anything from Arsenal’s last three or four games to make me think they’re there yet.” he further added.
Second-placed Arsenal closed the gap on Chelsea to three points by virtue of the win over Slaven Bilic’s West Ham side after the Stamford Bridge outfit had beaten Manchester City 3-1 in the huge clash played at the Etihad. Ian Wright, who also played for West Ham United in the latter years of his career, won the league title with Arsene Wenger’s side during the 1997/98 season and went on to become the club’s record goalscorer before he lost it to French national team hero Thierry Henry.
