Toby Alderweireld
Manchester United have been hit with a major transfer blow, following reports that Toby Alderweireld has decided to run down his contract at Tottenham Hotspurs. The Belgian has been tipped to join United this summer, as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad ahead what could be a make or mar season for “The Special One”. However, Spurs are bent on not letting the defender leave for cheap, holding out for a fee believed to be around £75 million. Various reports have suggested that the Red Devils have been put off by the price tag for the defender who started just 13 games in the Premier League last season. Reports in the Daily Mirror have it that Alderweirld is ready to leave Spurs for Manchester United this summer, but the transfer deal has been delayed by the price tag which the Red Devils are not ready to pay. However, the defender has come to reveal that he will return to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend to start his preseason training after his extended break for participating at the World Cup. United’s defensive target Harry Maguire will also remain with his current side, Leicester City, leaving them with Yerry Mina who is believed to have agreed to terms to join United.
