Manchester United legend Gary Neville has advised Liverpool to focus on their quest to win the Premier League title at the expense of their campaign in the Champions League.
Gary Neville told Sky Sports podcast that the Reds have a good chance of winning the Premier League title if they have a clean fixture list without the distractions of Champions League football.
The former Manchester United right-back categorically told Liverpool to lose their Champions League last 16 tie to German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich thus boosting their bid to win a first league title in 29 years (since 1990).
Liverpool played out a goalless draw with the Bavarian giants in their home leg of the tie with the second leg scheduled to take place next week Wednesday.
The Reds reached the final of the competition last season before they were beaten by Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The Los Merengues defeated Liverpool 3-1 to win the Champions League title for a third successive season.
Gary Neville believes that Liverpool will benefit immensely from dropping out of the competition to focus on their bid to beat Manchester City to the league title.
He also pointed out that their opposition for the league title Manchester City are still chasing major honours on three fronts.
