Arsenal are still in search of defenders that will help make the team more compact at the back and this time, they have turned their attention to Seria A 22-year-old central defender Gianluca Mancini.

The Daily Express reports that the Gunners have already sent representatives to examine the Atlanta central defender who is the big name coming out of Italy at the moment having impressed in the Italian top flight.

The 22-year-old has been able to see a total of 10 games for the U21 team out of 10 and has shown the prospect of being handed a first-team debut anytime soon.

It is reported that the North London boss, Unai Emery is a big fan of the central defender and will want to add him up to his squad having earlier bought Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Stephan Lichtsteiner in the summer.

The Spanish manager is believed to see Gianluca Mancini share the same characteristic as Giorgio Chiellini who is fearless and clinical in his approach to getting the balls from the attackers.

Gianluca Mancini has therefore scored a total of 4 goals and provided an assist in 11 appearances for his side which have attracted the former PSG boss.

Arsenal are bent on new additions at the back as it has been identified as their weakest point.
