Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt has revealed he will turn down a move to Liverpool or Bayern Munich.
Reliable reports have it that the 20-year-old is being monitored by Liverpool scouts as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring attacking reinforcements in the wide areas.
However, Brandt has insisted he ‘would not be scared’ to turn down advances from the Reds or Bayern.
‘I would not be scared to dismiss Bayern for a second time,’ Brandt told Bild.
‘The same goes for other clubs, too.’
When asked about signing a new contract with Leverkusen, Brandt replied: ‘Of course that is possible.
‘I feel very comfortable here and I know what I’ve got here. We’re constantly in good talks.
‘If it were up to me, the summer would be the right time [to renew]. I don’t want to deal with this forever. It gets annoying and performances will suffer because of it.’
According to L’Equipe the Reds are also interested in Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel but face competition from Roma and Marseille.
The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in 22 appearances in the Serie A season so far. A fee in the region of £15 million is believed to be enough to sign the striker.
