According to reports, Arsenal are in continuous talks with Crystal Palace as they look to sell versatile centre-back, Calum Chambers.

The Englishman spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough where he played 24 matches in the top-flight.

The Guardian reported that Palace have discussed the possibility of a season long loan and a permanent transfer deal for the defender, but Arsenal have rejected their previous offer of £16m plus bonuses.

The England international represented the England Under-21 side during the recently concluded European Championships in Poland, where he played ahead of fellow Arsenal man Rob Holding in the starting Eleven, but he does not look to hold a similar position at the North London club.

As a result, he is more than ready to leave, but his transfer could be delayed by a couple of days with both Arsenal and Palace confident of agreeing on a fee.

The defender joined Arsenal from Premier League side Southampton for an initial £16m back in 2014, and he has since played 59 matches in all competitions.

Chambers still has 24 months left on his Arsenal contract, but a stay may not be reasonable if he is to push for a World Cup spot with the England national team.
