Barcelona star Lionel Messi reportedly stopped the La Liga club from signing Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil before the summer transfer window slam shut last week.
FC Barcelona endured a nightmare summer transfer window, losing Brazil international Neymar Jr, to French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain and failing with efforts to sign Brazilian Philippe Coutinho and Argentine Angel Di Maria.
Argentina international Lionel Messi is believed to be annoyed with their transfer activity, with several reports suggesting he is considering his career at Barcelona as a result of their inability to sign several big players.
According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Messi’s influence had a bearing on activities that unfolded during the recently closed transfer window.
It is thought that the Argentine stopped the La Liga club from Luring Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil to Camp Nou.
Mesut Ozil’s future at Arsenal remains highly uncertain beyond this season.
The Germany international midfielder’s deal runs out next summer and, like fellow ‘contract rebel’ Alexis Sanchez, Ozil is currently not ready to extend his stay at the North London club.
The same publication claims the attacker saw the German as the wrong kind of player that the Blaugrana should sign.
And, because he communicated his opinions to the club’s Chief, they decided against signing the former Real Madrid star.
