Jose Mourinho has made it known that he will grant the Man United duo of Ander Herrera and Chris Smalling a week off during the international break.
The two players featured for Manchester United during their 1-0 defeat to premier league champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Man United lost their second game of the season at West London that helped Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City extend their lead at the top of the table – all thanks to a goal by Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata.
The international break is here again, and several Manchester United players have jetted off to play for their respective countries in different parts of the world.
However, Smalling wasn’t selected by manager Southgate, while Herrera couldn’t also make it into the Spanish squad.
And Mourinho, speaking recently about his side’s preparation for their next premier league game against Newcastle United on November 18, told MUTV that almost all of his men have flown from London to their various countries.
The Portuguese manager added that few of the boys – including both Chris Smalling and Ander Herrera, weren’t selected for their national team, and that both players deserve a week off after ‘so many matches’.
Herrera was crowned the best player at Manchester United last season, but has been struggling hard this term to replicate what he did last season.
