The Old Trafford club are through to the knockout stage of the tournament, finishing on top of Group A, after amassing 15 points from six games.
And Gerard, recently asked to predict which English club will go furthest in the European premier competition, named Manchester United with the belief that manager Jose Mourinho gives the club a small chance’.
Steven added that while a side like Liverpool looks better against other top sides in the competition, Jose can set a team up in any match and emerge victorious after full-time.
Also commenting on the issue, former Manchester United star player Paul Scholes, also believes Jurgen Klopp’s side are dangerous this season in the Champions League, but Jose’s influence gives his side a chance this term.
