Man United On Verge Of Agreeing Deal With English Leftback

Luke Shaw

Manchester United are on the verge of agreeing on a new contract offer with Luke Shaw, according to reports.

The 21-year-old has cut a frustrated figure at Old Trafford due to his reduced role under Jose Mourinho who even came out publicly to criticise the performance of the defender during the course of last season.

The former Southampton man arrived United in 2014 for a record fee of £33million but has not been able to deliver due his lacklustre displays and incessant injuries, that has kept him out of their match-day squad.

There are reports that Shaw might be considering his future at United with speculations that Mourinho was hoping to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender, Danny Rose following his public outburst about Spurs’ transfer activity.

However, reports in the Daily Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho wants to extend Luke Shaw’s contract at Old Trafford in order to fend off interest from clubs in the next twelve months as he enters the final year of his lucrative deal at Old Trafford.

Despite his unconvincing displays at United, the defender has been tipped to improve if given more playing chances, following his brilliant displays in patches for the Red Devils under former boss, Louis Van Gaal.
