Reports claim that Chelsea is interested in acquiring the signature of Paris Saint Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.
The Mirror reports that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is ready to go head to head with Manchester United for the 24-year-old midfielder. Various clubs will have been alerted on the availability of the talented midfielder after his agent last month revealed that Verratti could leave the Paris club if they do not win a title this season.
Chelsea have been in superb form so far this season with midfielders Kanta and Matic doing very well but this has not stopped manger Conte from trying to improve the squad and is determined to add quality to the midfield and has reportedly received the backing of the owner of Chelsea Roman Abramovich.
Chelsea has also been linked to another PSG midfielder Javier Pastore as Conte looks to bolster his midfield options. To free up space for new players in the team especially the midfield area, Conte is set to allow some players leave the team. Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi contract expires at the end of the season and is not expected to be renewed. He has not played for Conte so far this season and it seems likely to leave. It is also reported that Chelsea are willing to offload Cesc Fabregas and are ready to listen to offers for the Spanish International.
Verratti in August signed a new five year deal with PSG and his agent Donato Di Campli said last month “The contracts are made and unmade in three minutes. We’ll see PSG’s aims, Marco is happy to be there, but he wants to win something important. He cannot stay in a team that does not win.”
