According to British media report, former Premier League champions Manchester United and North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur have reached a deadlock in negotiations about the move of experienced defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Evening Standard is claiming that Tottenham are refusing to reduce their asking price of the Belgium international centre-half, which is thought to be in excess of £55million.
Man United keen on defender
As per the same report, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains sure that the Red Devils will be able to seal a transfer deal for the central defender this summer transfer window.
The report also suggests that United’s position is reinforced by the fact that the north London giants may hold an interest in landing France international forward Anthony Martial from United this summer window.
The Red Devils are allegedly already set to offer Toby a five-year deal which would be worth in excess of £120,000-weekly.
Spurs willing to sell this summer
The same report states that Spurs are indeed ready to offload Toby, 29, this summer window but only for the right transfer fee.
His current deal at Spurs is due to run out in the summer of 2020 but he can leave for only £25million next summer if he does not sign a new contract with the side.
Jose Mourinho’s team sealed their first two signings this summer window last week after completing deals for Diogo Dalot and Brazil international Fred.
