This Bad News For Man United Is Good News For Liverpool

Paul Pogba

After sharing points with Stoke City last weekend in the premier league, Jose Mourinho led his boys to a comfortable win over FC Basel in their opening Champions League game of the new campaign at Old Trafford.

However, the Portuguese boss suffered a major injury setback during the 3-0 win.

Frenchman Paul Pogba adorned the skipper’s band for the Champions League game but limped off the pitch just after 19 minutes with a hamstring injury.

And after the game, Jose claimed that the record-signing could be out for weeks before a recent report covered by BBC insists the Frenchman will be out of action for at least a month and could be out for six good weeks.

What this means is that the former Juventus star is very likely to miss the match against Liverpool on 14th October.

Although he struggled last season at Old Trafford, Paul started this new term in brilliant style and has so far started every match for his side this season. He has scored two times and has provided two assists, and is obviously one of the current pillars in Jose Mourinho’s team.

He will be really missed by Man United and his injury represents a big boost for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool if he is not fit in time before 14th of next month.

In Pogba’s absence, Herrera is expected to partner Matic in the centre of the park for Man United. But the Spanish midfielder cannot be compared to the Frenchman.
