Former Man United player Gary Neville has delivered his thoughts on Manchester United’s top-four hopes in the Premier League after their win over Leicester City on Sunday. Neville claimed that United’s 3-0 win over Leicester has reignited hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho and his men headed into the game on Sunday searching for a much-needed win after a recent run of three straight draws in the top flight.
Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan broke the deadlock when he coolly slotted home in the 42nd minute after sprinting clear of the Leicester defence.
Swede legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the second goal with a finish from inside the box after being found by Antonio Valencia.
Then Juan Mata made it 3-0 in the 49th minute as he finished from Mkhitaryan’s through-ball.
Manchester United still remains in sixth position following the win in the Premier League table, but are however just a point behind Liverpool in fifth.
And Neville thinks the victory of the Old Trafford club can inject some much-needed belief in their squad in the coming weeks.
Gary speaking to Sky Sports stated that there was a lot of pressure on Man United coming into the game since they dropped points in midweek.
“But with Arsenal and Liverpool both losing yesterday, it [the win] does give United a chance to get close to the Champions League spots with Watford at home next weekend.” he said.
