Riyad Mahrez

Leicester City have slapped a £50million transfer price tag on Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has asked to leave the King Power stadium this summer after a dismal campaign with the Foxes last season. He was tipped to leave the former Premier League champions last summer with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal believed to be interested in his signature.

The Algerian instead signed a new four year deal to remain with Leicester City but he has now told the club about his decision to leave this summer for a bigger side.

It is understood that Arsenal have retained their interest in the winger but are unwilling to meet Leicester City’s initial transfer valuation of the player.

Serie A giants Roma was also said to have seen their £30 million bid rejected by the Foxes who are believed to be holding out for a bid around £40 million.

Reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has now claimed that Roma are not close to sealing a move for Riyad Mahrez as the Foxes are adamant that their valuation for the player must be met.

It is understood that Mahrez is pushing for a move to Arsenal despite holding talks with Roma while Arsenal are still hoping that Leicester City will accept their proposal for the winger.
