It appears Phillipe Coutinho is destined to leave Liverpool for Barcelona next year, as the latest transfer reports about the Anfield club are simply intriguing.
It was made known that the reds have taken the Catalan giants by surprise and have asked them to include Sergi Roberto in a swap deal for Phillipe.
Don Balon mentioned that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Roberto, and that Liverpool have the approval of the German boss to bring the Spanish player to Anfield.
Sergi is a versatile talent who can operate in the midfield and also in the defense, and Klopp is understood to admire him for this.
It was also added that Barcelona are not too comfortable with Liverpool’s request, as Sergi is a key member of the Camp Nou club.
Roberto’s current contract with Barcelona will expire in 2019, and it is with a release clause of €40 million – although the La Liga club are said to have been trying to offer him a new deal.
This season so far, he has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Barca, and has scored 1 goal with 4 assists.
Roberto mainly played in the right back position last term and the situation has not changed much this ongoing campaign.
However, if the truth is told, Coutinho is much better than the Spaniard. But we look forward to what will happen next year.
