Real Madrid star player Marco Asensio was linked with a move to Liverpool in January after the Merseysiders sold Phillipe Coutinho to Barcelona during the winter transfer window.
It was made known that the Anfield club made an attempt to sign the player with €150 Million, but the Champions League winners rejected the offer and refused to sell him.
However, there are new claims circulating in Spain that Real could send Asensio to Merseyside just to get Mohamed Salah’s signature this summer.
Spanish news outlet Diario Gol made it known that Jurgen Klopp’s side are demanding €200 Million for Salah, but won’t mind collecting €100 Million from Real Madrid if the Spanish side will agree to add Asensio in the deal.
Although he keeps struggling for regular first-team actions at the Bernabeu, Asensio remains a superb player who will add quality to whichever club he will play for. Last season, despite getting just 19 starts in the La Liga, he was able to score 6 times and he also provided 5 assists.
He is a versatile player who can effectively play anywhere in the midfield, and in the attacking positions too – just like Philippe Coutinho.
But to be realistic, should Mohamed Salah depart the club, a big crack would be opened at Anfield. The Champions League final against Real Madrid comes to mind.
