Liverpool will be playing in the Champions League this season, as well as competing with other top domestic rivals in the premier league for the top four spot.
To achieve good success at the end of the season, the boss Jurgen Klopp need to have a quality team, and need to strengthen his back line by signing a top quality defender to avoid what happened last term.
Southampton central defender Van Dijk would be a good fit for the job and has been linked with Liverpool for much of this summer.
And former journalist Ian McGarry made a revelation that will get Liverpool fans excited before the end of the transfer window.
The popular football expert who has covered works for BBC and is a Transfer Window podcast guest said the Netherlands international will be a Liverpool player come next Thursday.
Ian even added that the Dutchman already have a shirt number as well.
“By this time next Thursday he will already be given a squad number by Liverpool and Liverpool is where he will be playing this season. He has seen himself in the red jersey of Liverpool.” McGarry said.
Liverpool have already conceded four goals in their first two matches of the new campaign – a good indication that more quality is needed.
Even though premier league champions Chelsea are also linked with Van Dijk, it is believed that the player is interested in joining Liverpool instead.
