Alejandro Moreno has urged FA Cup holders Chelsea to stick with Spain international striker Alvaro Morata and give him another opportunity to prove himself next term.
Mixed first season at Stamford Bridge
Alvaro Morata signed for Chelsea from La Liga giants Real Madrid last summer transfer window but has had to endure a mixed debut season in the English Premier League.
Morata, 25, started the campaign strongly but eventually suffered a slump in form in mid-season after he sustained an injury to his back.
The striker’s form never really returned from there, and the forward was also kept out of the squad by winter transfer January signing from Arsenal Olivier Giroud, who joined the West London club at the turn of the year 2018.
The forward’s lack of regular playing time in the second stanza of the season and his mixed shape has inevitably prompted rumour that the striker may not have a future at Stamford Bridge.
Striker deserves another Chance
However, ex-Venezuela star Alejandro Moreno feels that the striker deserves at least another year to prove himself as the main striker at the club.
Moreno told ESPN FC he’d stick with Morata but not as a main top-line striker.
The Spaniard ended up missing out on a spot in the Spain national team for this summer’s FIFA World Cup due to his below-par form for the Blues.
