Virjil van Dijk is one of the Premier leagues best defender this term and Jose Mourinho has joined the race for his signature.
According to the Mirror, the self acclaimed “special one” is looking to secure the services of the 25-year old Dutch player.
Virjil van Dijk moved to the Premier league outfit Southampton from Celtic last year and has a contract running till 2022, having signed a 6-year contract in May, a reward for a form that has seen the Saints fans take a liking to him in such a short period of time.
It is claimed that the Red Devils will have to fork out about £30m to secure his services.
It was also reported by Starsport that Klopp is looking to secure the defenders signature in the upcoming transfer window to bolster his defence for the second half of the English Premier League.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up – if he does leave the saints- with both Liverpool and Manchester a kind of relationship with Southampton in the transfer market.
Virjil is not the only defender targeted by Mourinho who is also looking to Bayern Munich left/wing back David Alaba and his fellow Austria international Aleksander Dragovic.
