Atletico Madrid star player Antoine Griezmann is expected to leave the Spanish capital next summer and Old Trafford is his most likely destination.
However, new reports coming from Spain made it known that the premier league heavyweights will have to compete with La Liga giants Barcelona for the player’s signature when the next summer transfer window comes.
Griezmann has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, but the red devils were unable to seal a deal for him before the transfer deadline day.
The Frenchman chose to stay with Atletico Madrid who were serving a transfer ban, but it is understood that Man United are still interested in his services.
However, Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo (via Metro) reported that Catalan giants Barcelona are ready to snatch the talented player away from Man United’s grip and could ruin the English side’s plans for next summer.
The Spanish club are understood to be aiming at a huge summer overhaul of players after an unpleasant window that saw them lose Neymar and miss out on Coutinho’s signature.
They are said to have now put their attention on Antoine and are making him their No. 1 target next summer.
It was also added that they will try completing his transfer before the World Cup in Russia kick’s off in June.
