Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge wasn’t as pretty as Mourinho’s Man United was humbled by Chelsea in a match that ended 4:0 in favor of the league leaders.
The match also saw United lose summer recruit Eric Bailey to a lateral knee ligament injury that was set to keep him on the sidelines for 2 months.
The 22-year-old Ivory Coast defender is however recovering faster than expected and could be back to team training in the coming weeks.
A source from the Red Devils spoke to The sun and had this to say: “The medical staff were impressed with his progress over the recent international break.
“They are refusing to set a comeback date, but Bailly hinted the game on December 8 will be his return.”
If everything go according to plan then he should be available for selection for the game at Zorya Luhansk.
Eric Bailey join Manchester United from Villarreal in a £30m deal back in June following the appointment of Mourinho. He was a team starter before his injury and with Chris Smalling also absent, Mourinho has had to do with a makeshift back line in recent games and so news of his quick recovery will be a welcome news to the Red Devils Faithfuls and a positive selection head for Mourinho as United struggle to string back to back wins.
