Mourinho Send Message To Fans About Lindelof

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has made it known that Victor Lindelof‘s confidence level made him change his entire formation for his side’s League Cup clash with Swansea City on Tuesday.

Jesse Lingard stole the show during the encounter by scoring a brace that gave his side a comfortable win over the Swans at the Liberty Stadium – although a handful of his teammates were also impressive at the game.

Mourinho has started with four at the back in his last four games in all competitions but chose to change to a back-three to accommodate for Victor on Tuesday.

The former Benfica defender has been used sparingly this season since making a £31million move to Manchester from the Portuguese club and will have been excited with a clean sheet as his new side sailed through to the semi-finals.

And Mourinho, speaking after the 2-0 win, said he decided to play with a three at the back because Lindelof was not coming with his confidence levels high.

“So I decided to play both [Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe] with the experience of Smalling, and we were OK” the Portuguese manager said.

Up next for Jose Mourinho is a crucial premier league game against an in-form Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at Old Trafford, and Ivorian star defender Eric Bailly is expected to participate in the game.
