According to new reports, Manchester United young goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to depart Old Trafford to join West Brom for £6.5M.
BBC reporter Simon Stone made it known that a medical had been conducted by West Brom for the shot-stopper and that a fee between the two sides is already agreed.
It was also added that the fee could rise to £10M – which is good business for Jose Mourinho’s side (considering that Sam has only played few times in a Manchester United shirt)
Of course, this is not to say the youngster is not a good goalkeeper. However, it is difficult for any goalie to force his way into the starting line-up at the Theater of Dreams – with the presence of the duo of David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
The duo are talented professionals with a lot of experiences in the game. De Gea on his part is widely regarded as the best goalie in the premier league, while Romero has featured for Argentina on two different occasions in the World Cup.
Manchester United have wasted no time in replacing Sam with Stoke City’s Lee Grant.
The 35-year-old veteran shot-stopper will be coming to Old Trafford to become the third-choice goalie at the Theater of Dreams ahead of the 2018/19 season.
