Why Eden Hazard didn’t leave Chelsea last summer

Chelsea forward and Belgium star, Eden Hazard was close to leaving the English Premier League last season for the Spanish La Liga where he would have joined Real Madrid.

In fact, if Antonio Conte had remained as Chelsea’s coach then Eden Hazard would probably be history at Stamford Bridge by now.

However, the arrival of a new coach, Maurizio Sarri in the summer transfer window had made the Belgium international stay put.

According to Eden Hazard, Sarri had a discussion with him that made him stay.

Well, the Metro news outfit in a new report disclosed what Maurizio Sarri said that made Eden Hazard remain at Chelsea despite interest from Real Madrid.

Eden Hazard in a statement said Sarri ‘just told me that he wanted me to be one of the best players in the world. That’s it.’

The 27 years old star made it known that Sarri always gives him the confidence to do better and score in every match.

Well, true to Sarri’s word, the Belgium international is the highest goalscorer in the Premier League at the moment with seven goals to his name.

And so far, Eden Hazard decision has paid off by becoming the highest goal scorer at Stamford Bridge this season.
