Chelsea manager gets crucial transfer update in pursuit of David Luiz replacement

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was allegedly hoping to reunite with a familiar player from Juventus, but the move doesn’t sound positive for the tactician.

Although the coming to light of Dane star Andreas Christensen offers Conte a long-term alternative in defence, rumour would lead fans to believe that the tactician isn’t entirely satisfied with his options in defence.

According to a report by Goal.com, Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini was thought to be a transfer target for Conte, with the Italian seemingly interested in working with the 33-year-old center-half again after their successful spell together in Juventus as well as for the National team.

While the Metro claim that Brazil international David Luiz could be prepared for departure this summer after a reported bust-up and falling out of favour and pecking order at Chelsea, defender Gary Cahill hasn’t always performed pretty well for the reigning English Premier League champions.

That leaves Germany international defender Antonio Rudiger and Denmark international youngster Andreas Christensen as the two long-term centre-half alternatives at Stamford Bridge along with Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta, and although Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini isn’t getting younger, he could have been a strong addition to provide experience and solidity in defence for Chelsea.
