Premier League giants Liverpool have been buoyed by the news that they could sign defensive transfer target Jean-Clair Todibo on the cheap.
According to the report from French side La Depeche, the young centre-back could leave his club for just €3m as he’s yet to put pen to paper on a professional contract with his French Ligue 1 outfit.
Jean-Clair Todibo plays his club football for French Ligue 1 side Toulouse at the moment.
His Toulouse contract expires at the end of this season and the French top flight club has so far failed to agree to a professional contract with the 18-year-old defender.
Todibo broke into the Toulouse first team in the new campaign following the summer exit of former club captain Issa Diop.
The 21-year-old left the club during the summer’s transfer window after West Ham United paid around £20m to secure his transfer from Toulouse.
Issa Diop has since gone on to impress for the Hammers in the Premier League this season and has formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Paraguayan international Fabian Balbuena.
His replacement at Toulouse has also earned rave reviews thereby leading to interests from several European sides including Liverpool.
Earlier reports claimed that as many as 40 European clubs are willing to sign him.
