Premier League Champions Chelsea has secured the signature of Ross Barkley today. The former Everton forward was unveiled on Friday night as his new shirt number was as well revealed.
According to BBC Sport, the 24-year-old attacker joined Chelsea in a £15million transfer deal as the Englishman brings a stop to a 13-year stint with the Merseyside club having joined them at as a schoolboy.
He played 179 matches for the Toffees, netting a total of 27 goals, while he’s also amassed 22 caps for the Three Lions of England as he now seems to take the next giant step in his playing career for both club and country.
The Blues confirmed on their official website that Ross signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the West London side, while he will be handed the No.8 jersey at the Bridge which means a lot to Chelsea fans and takes on massive significant given club legend Frank Lampard wore that jersey number during his brilliant career in west London.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will possibly be glad with the versatility that Ross Barkley brings to the table as he can play in a number of positions on the flanks, through the centre or in a deeper midfield role to hand him a good opportunity to find a route to break into the Blues’ starting line-up.
