Manchester United star Nemanja Matic said he didn’t know why France international Paul Pogba missed Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup win over Huddersfield, which could suggest the reported illness claims may not be true.
Jose’s stance on Frenchman
As per the Manchester Evening News, tactician Jose Mourinho said on Friday that the Frenchman would play a role against the Terriers at the weekend. However, few hours before kick-off a day after, it was announced the French international’s place would be taken by Ethan Hamilton.
Jose Mourinho refused to commit himself when asked about a possible return date of Pogba, 24, and Serbian International Nemanja Matic didn’t ease situations by admitting he had no idea the midfielder was missing the match through a late sickness.
Reduced playing time
The former Juventus midfielder has been a regular starter at Old Trafford this term, but his match appearance record has been reduced in recent weeks.
The midfield maestro, who returned to the Premier League in 2016, was substituted against Tottenham Hotspurs in January and Newcastle earlier this month while being left on the bench in a league match against Huddersfield Town.
And now with the midfielder dropped from the matchday squad in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round clash, speculations will increase that there is a major problem between Pogba and Mourinho.
