Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte made it known recently that his favorite striker is Tottenham Hotspur star player Harry Kane. However, Chelsea’s legend Pat Nevin thinks Michy Batshuayi could be a surprise star for the premier league champions this term.

Batshuayi has started pre-season in a fantastic form, following a nice spell when he was given more playing time towards the end of last campaign, helping Antonio Conte win the premier league trophy in his first season at the club with his title-clinching goal away to West Brom.

Nevertheless, the Italian manager depended mainly on Diego Costa in front of the attack, and when Costa was unavailable, he chose to move Eden Hazard to the central-forward role while ignoring Michy.

The former Juventus manager then moved to sign former Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata this summer after telling Diego Costa at the end of last season that he is not part of his plans at Stamford Bridge in the fast-approaching campaign. And he also admitted he will love to secure the services of Harry Kane from Tottenham if he had the chance.

However, Chelsea hero Pat Nevin has high hopes for Batshuayi this term hig expectation from the Belgian forward following his impressive performances for his side in their pre-season friendly matches, comparing Michy’s minutes-per-goal ratio to that of Harry.

‘At a goal for every 79 minutes Michy was on the field, and he was well ahead of Kane last season! His current run is even more impressive and suggests very good things lie ahead.’ he wrote on Chelsea’s official website.
