Chelsea captain Gary Cahill has disclosed his excitement at the club’s signing of England midfielder Ross Barkley as their first winter transfer move.

Chelsea confirmed the signing of the 24-year-old England international on Friday evening after having been strongly linked with a transfer to capture him in the summer window.

The former Everton man has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Blues and will be hoping to cement a regular playing spot in Antonio Conte’s first team soonest.

Meanwhile, the Premier League Champion are currently getting set for the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final encounter against the Gunners at Stamford Bridge Tonight.

The West London outfit head into the match on the back of their goalless draw with Norwich at Carrow Road in the Emirates FA Cup last Saturday.
