Manchester United new boy Romelu Lukaku is currently finding it difficult to score more goals, and the fans are not happy with this.
He was expected to do his thing when his side clashed with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday, but the Belgium international instead drew a blank at the game – and many Manchester United supporters are beginning to throw harsh words towards his direction.
However, his manager Jose Mourinho has launched a staunch defence of the former Everton striker after the win against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, despite that the game extended his goalless streak to five.
Lukaku has an impressive start to life at Man United this season following his big-money move from Everton during the summer transfer window, and he was able to break some early records set by some of United’s legends like Ruud van Nistelrooy and Eric Cantona.
But despite his current goal drought, manager Mourinho has tagged him an ‘untouchable’ striker and has also sent messages across that the Belgian offers much more and should command respect from supporters.
Speaking ahead of Manchester United Champions League clash with Benfica, the former Inter Milan manager said the fans are free to express themselves anyhow they want – since they are paying for tickets.
He , however, added that his job is to protect his players when they deserve it, and, according to him, Lukaku is one of the guys who should be untouchable in terms of respect from everyone.
