According to new reports, Stoke City’s Lee Grant is set to become a Manchester United player any moment from now.
The goalkeeper would become United’s third signing of the summer and he will sign for the red devils this summer transfer window.
This was made known by Craig Norwood – the man who first announced the signings of Fred and Diogo Dalot (so, we can believe this is genuine).
Lee is coming to Old Trafford to become the third-choice shot-stopper behind the duo of David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
The 35-year-old will be allowed to depart Stoke City this summer after they were relegated to the Championship last season.
However, the veteran goalie is only coming in as a mere back-up, and we don’t expect him to start a single game next season as long as De Gea and Romero are fit and good.
Manchester United chose to sign him because they intend sending their academy goalies on loan to enhance their development at various sides.
Nevertheless, it’s a nice idea to bring Grant into Old Trafford due to his experience. He’s a senior guy who has been in the football world for years, and we expect him to be a source of motivation to the other shot-stoppers.
