Jesse Lingard has revealed what Jose Mourinho told him before United’s victory over West Brom on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho gave the Englishman an opportunity to prove his worth by handing him a start at The Hawthorns, and Lingard in return made the most of his opportunity particularly by providing an assist for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first goal.
In recent times, the youngster hasn’t been able to fight his way into the squad. Nevertheless, he provided the perfect cover for Henrikh Mkhitaryan who is currently with an injury.
Jesse Lingard, while commenting on the West Brom game, revealed that coach Jose Mourinho spoke to him about feeding off his striker’s movement to find space for himself.
“The manager just told me to make sure I noticed the gaps so I could run in behind,” Lingard said.
“I looked up and saw Zlatan in the box and he finished with a great header.”
The win against West Brom became United’s third straight in the league after a difficult run of draws. They hope to extend their lead against Sunderland on Boxing Day at Old Trafford.
In recent times, Mourinho boys have been in brilliant form and have been playing well above average, although they aren’t getting more goals that their performances deserves.
It is expected that the boys should continue their impressive performances and continue wining more matches and scoring more goals. Hopefully they can find themselves among the top four sooner than later.
