Arsenal have reportedly looking at the possibility of signing Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as a replacement for either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez as both players continue to delay signing a new contract extension with the Gunners.
Chilean forward and his German playmaker counterpart Mesut Ozil and widely regarded as the club’s best players however both Arsenal stars have just 18 months left on their respective contracts with their deals expiring at the end of next season.
The North London club are quietly confident the duo would sign a new contract however they don’t want to put their eggs in one back, which is why their interest in Marco Reus is a back-up plan in the event that either Sanchez or Ozil fail to agree a new deal with the club according to The Telegraph.
Reus has been in superb form for 2013 UEFA Champions League (UCL) finalist Borussia Dortmund netting 50 league goals in over 100 matches amidst his numerous injury woes at the club since he made a €17.5m from fellow German side Borussia Moenchengladbach in 2012.
There is no doubt that Marco Reus would be an able replacement for either Sanchez or Ozil but that would be dependent on their contract situation as well as German side Borussia Dortmund.
