Chelsea set to seal Courtois deal, as Real Madrid to seal deal for Kepa Arrizabalaga

According to reports, Chelsea will be hoping that La Liga Champions Real Madrid sign Kepa Arrizabalaga in the New year, as that could eventually end their interest in Belgian safe hand Thibaut Courtois.

The Belgian goalkeeper has been a key figure in Chelsea’s recent success stories which has included two English Premier League crowns in the last three seasons.

After a loan spell with Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid which proved his top class, he returned to West London with Chelsea back in 2014 and has since sealed himself as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers.

In turn, Chelsea and boss Antonio Conte will have no intent to lose the goalie, but it all depends on what Real decide to do next.

As reported by The Telegraph, it seems as though it depends on two options. One is the £22million signing of Athletic’s Kepa Arrizabalaga in the New Year, or to wait for Chelsea goalie to make a decision on his playing future, perhaps as early as next campaign, with the Belgium international worth around £73million, as per the report.

With the blues hoping to convince the Belgian to sign a fresh contract, albeit his existing contract still runs until the summer of 2019, the confusion over his situation has led to anxiousness and worry over a possible departure.
