After winning the French Ligue I title in the just-concluded season, many Monaco players have been linked with an exit from the club.
21-year-old Thomas Lemar has emerged as a target for FA Cup champions Arsenal.
However, it appears Arsenal could miss out on Lemar as a result of Chelsea’s interest in another Monaco star player Tiemoue Bakayoko.
According to new reports, Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Bakayoko, and that might make Arsene Wenger missed out on Lemar.
Since Alexis Sanchez’s future at North London is still very much uncertain, the Gunners have been eager to bring in a replacement, and Lemar is deemed worthy of the role. However, they’ve been slow to complete the deal, and now stand the chance of missing out on him completely.
The Daily Mirror says Monaco are not going to allow both Lemar and Bakayoko leave at the same time, having sold Bernardo Silva to Manchester City this summer already.
It is understood that the Premier League champions are getting closer to finalising a £40 Million move for Tiemoue as Antonio Conte is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of next season.
Thomas Lemar is one of the superb youngsters in Europe currently. In the just concluded season, he scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists as an attacking midfielder.
